The City of Tempe is seeking input on a proposed Amendment to the Tempe City Charter that could ask voters to make Papago Park a preserve.

The Charter Amendment (Article XI. Preserves) would define the Papago Park Preserve and its permitted uses, including cultural, educational and recreational opportunities primarily designed to heighten appreciation and enjoyment of the natural Arizona environment.  An Amendment to the Tempe City Code, relating to preserves, would update preserve rules and regulations, including proper use, permits, and civil and criminal penalties.

***Depending on public input, the proposed Charter amendment may be placed on a future ballot in 2018. The City of Tempe does not support or oppose the proposed Charter amendment. Opportunities for input and meeting shall not be construed as an attempt to influence the outcome of an election under Arizona law or otherwise.
