Apache Art in the News

By Lynn Trimble
January 8, 2016

Congratulations to the Apache area on their recent art mural installations at The Dhaba (1872 E. Apache Boulevard)
and Express Liquor (1605 E. Apache Boulevard). Throughout the Character Area Planning process, we heard from residents and businesses that art serves a central role in Apache area identity and placemaking.
Watch for more artfully-conceived installations throughout the new year, as Apache continues to transform.

Tempe Giving Residents A Chance To Describe Their Neighborhood Character

By Mark Brodie
August 18, 2015

Tempe officials have been asking residents what makes their neighborhoods special and unique.

It’s part of the city’s Character Area Plans, which dovetail with its voter-approved General Plan 2040. Residents who live around Apache Boulevard tonight will have a chance to see what their neighbors have been saying.

New School for the Arts + Academics at SWC of Apache Blvd. and Cedar Street

LISC Phoenix and Neighborhood Economic Development Corporation (NEDCO), empowered by "Early Action" funds provided by State Farm® engaged the New School for the Arts & Academics (NSAA) to design and construct a temporary community mural on a vacant city parcel adjacent to the APACHE/DORSEY Light Rail Station to draw positive attention to the site with the hopes of attracting investment to the Historic Route 66 turned Transit Oriented Corridor.

State Farm’s interest in Apache Boulevard was sparked when they chose Tempe Town Lake as the location of their new employment center, Marina Heights. State Farm gives back to the neighborhoods it serves and helps develop stronger neighborhoods by investing in the community. Their commitment to community revitalization efforts in Tempe is noteworthy.
