Tempe PRE seeks certified teachers and instructional assistants

Post Date:12/07/2017 12:38 PM

With an expansion of five classrooms to its Tempe PRE program, the City of Tempe’s free pre-kindergarten program needs more teachers. Recruitment is underway by Tempe Elementary School District #3 which is looking for certified teachers and instructional assistants to lead the additional classrooms that start up in January.

Qualified candidates interested in applying for either position should visit the Tempe Elementary School District website

Tempe PRE is a first-ever effort by the City of Tempe to improve kindergarten readiness and long-term school success. The city currently funds 15 classrooms and teaching staff for 270 preschoolers in the Tempe Elementary School and Kyrene school districts. The two-year pilot program’s goal is to have 20 classrooms of 18 students. New student applications are being accepted now until January 2, 2018.

Funding free preschool supports the five goals of Tempe’s Roadmap for Education plan that:

All Tempe children:

  1. live in stable and nurturing families
  2. are mentally and physically healthy
  3. are ready to succeed in school
  4. live in safe and supportive neighborhoods
  5. make successful transitions to adulthood
